The Pipedream Interview
I had a chance to speak to the upcoming artist, and he had a lot to say about his art and artistry:
“I’m from buffalo New York and I was born into a huge family, my early introduction to music start when I was drawing and listening to three days grace and skillet on my windows 7 family computer, growing up I was Hella shy but honestly overall a pretty good kid and I had a nice family too.
My mom was very school and book heavy whilst my dad definitely wanted a more sports oriented, son I could tell, but that wasn’t me I was a huge dork if I’m being real.
I was in love with Beyblade’s, Dragon Ball, Spider-Man, and art Also rq dragon Ball GT is better than super I would actually wear my Halloween costumes and imagine myself as spiderman or Batman.
I’m a dreamer, I mean I’ll base my life around a goal until I get what I want. I want more out of life than the basic day to day.. I wanna grow and live the lifestyle My honest goals for music is too leave something behind, I want some corner of the Internet to remember me and all the music I’ve created over the last five years. I don’t need to be world, famous or superstar, just being recognized is more than enough.
I would say middle school is when I discovered SoundCloud and about a year after I discovered SoundCloud so like late 2017 - early 2018 I found xxxtentacion while I was walking my dog one day so I was like "fuck it let’s try something new" and from there is where it all happened. I absolutely fell in love with underground music and I listen to members only, Scarlxrd, Shiloh dynasty and more. For a minute I was really into underground remixes that has sounds like trapped with EDM and harsh chops and screw.
I created a name in 8th grade Zeus or lil Zeus, and when I told my friends that I wanted to make music, no one supported me, imagine telling everyone your passion one day at lunch and everyone makes fun of you and the name that you created So I was like "welp no more music" but then one day I heard the word Pipedream when I was listening to BROCKHAMPTON and looked it up and what I heard with Pipedream, I was sold on it.
I want greatness, it feels like such a long trail away, but I know if I give myself to it I can really achieve something that no one in my family or friends has ever achieved I want more depth to my life and this is what I feel like I could get it from the most My most recent project phantasmagorical is just a glimpse into the sound I’m moving towards, I’m no longer just doing dark trap rather I’ll be experimenting with a rock and hood trap, I hope moving into those genres I’ll find a lot more love and success than I did in the trap metal/dark trap community.
I’m looking to put up my next project "teenage wasteland" in the next few months and I hope this project is the one that makes me known in my local area i’ll be taking loads of inspiration on this project, especially from Kurt Cobain, Soundgarden, jaydes, ski mask the slump god”
